Farewell to Emmanuel
Promise of Peace Gardens launched its food pantry garden at teh Emmanuel Lutheran Church in the spring of 2016. Many volunteers and comunity memners came together to install and to sustain this magical garden. The garden produced enough food to share with hundreds of people living in a food dessert. It was a very humbling expereinence to serve where commity memners slept on carboard in the garden. And it was amazing that each every homless person that we spoke with understood the importance of a garden. They seemed to know that it could make the difference that we all need.
The Emmanuel P.O.P. Garden was established in late spring of 2016. P.O.P. partnered with the Emmanuel Lutheran Community Center to establish a garden where we would grow community with brotherhood and compassion for those who have less. We laid the cardboard, built the plots and filled them with organic soil.
Today we are growing to serve the community and the food pantry at the Emanuel Community Center.
This garden sends a strong message of resiliency and hope for a brighter tomorrow for all that engage
